Very First Tie Chair

Because I am a full-time student, I don't really have time for a "real" job. In addition to working on my furniture, I also work as an extra on movies and TV shows.
A few months ago, I was working on set with Jennifer Aniston. Yeah... you know...

So anyways, I was working on this movie, and the location was this amazing house in North Georgia that was owned by an artist. In one shot that I was in, I against the wall and saw a chair that looked to have a seat made out of ties. Upon further investigation, I realized that it was. I immediately became infatuated and HAD to have one. So my journey began...
In my attic, I found a chair that is was in need of a change. It's white paint was chipping off to expose the gold paint underneath. It was missing it's seat so I figured it would be perfect!
Here it is before:

I sanded the entire chair and primed it, painting it black afterwards. Then, I coated it with polyurethane. This is how it looked:

Because I had no idea how to actually make the seat work, I decided to go out and buy as many old grandpa/science fair/groomsmen ties as I could find, along with a few other secret ingredients.
This how it looked when it was almost finished:

Annnnnd afterwards!

And upclose:

(Yes, those are my toesies.)

So this is now my sewing table chair and I LOVE it!
I definitely get most of my custom orders for these chairs.

On another note, watch this adorable video.
